Our Philosophy

Excellence in customer service coupled with a modern, preventative approach to dentistry is fundamental to our patient care strategy at Edge Dental.
We are dedicated to providing ethical, affordable dentistry whilst maintaining the highest level of customer service ensuring our patients leave the practice with happy and healthy smiles. Based in Nether Edge, we are an active and passionate member of the local business community. We feel privileged to be part of this wonderful, caring and diverse suburb of Sheffield and we are proud to be serving the dental needs of the people within this area and beyond.

Ritesh Aggarwal (Ricky)

Lead Dentist

Originally from Liverpool, I qualified as a dentist in June 1999 from The Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, University of Sheffield. I have worked within the NHS and Private dental system until focussing fully on Edge Dental which solely offers private dentistry.

For 10 years, I was a Foundation Dental Trainer, mentoring newly qualified dentists. I particularly enjoyed this role, passing on my experiences to help shape the future careers of new dentists. I enjoy making people smile – literally!

I also have a passion for positively impacting people’s mental wellbeing and I founded Psynergy Mental Health, a company dedicated to improving mental wellness for all.

As a life long fan I also love returning to my hometown to watch Liverpool Football Club and I try to follow them for away matches where possible.
All of this could not be possible without the love and support of my amazing family. I am blessed to have my wonderful wife Aekila by my side. We have 2 beautiful daughters, Anaiya and Yasmin and a cheeky-chappy of a son, Ishaan. Thankfully he helps create more of a male balance within our household.

Karen Hukin

Practice Manager

Dental Nurse

Karen qualified as a dental nurse in 1996 and gained her radiography qualification in 2000. She has a broad understanding and experience of all aspects of running a dental practice and we are proud to have her as our Practice Manager.

Karen is responsible for the day to day running of Edge Dental. She has a special interest in customer care.

​In Karen’s spare time she plays netball and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Professor Julian Yates

Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Implantologist

Professor Julian Yates qualified from Glasgow Dental School in 1996 and following completion of his training in Academic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2006 became a Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Oral Surgery at the University of Sheffield.

He was then appointed as Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2011 at the University of Manchester.

Julian is a clinical teacher in all aspects of oral surgery including routine and advanced dental implantology to both postgraduate and undergraduate students.

He has vast experience in all aspects of implant dentistry including both the surgical and restorative aspects of patient management. Julian’s specific area of expertise is managing patients with atrophic jaws, including soft and hard tissue augmentation/grafting, the ‘All-on-4’ technique and zygomatic implants.

As an honorary Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he has significant experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and managing patients with complex treatment needs.

Carla Irving

Dentist

I am Carla and I am originally from Porto, Portugal, and I qualified in Dentistry there in July 2007, moving to Sheffield in April 2008. I was only supposed to stay for 2 years to do a Masters and then move back. However, 17 years later I am still here. I completed my Masters in Oral Surgery from the University of Manchester in 2013 and even though Oral Surgery is my passion, I absolutely love being a General Dentist and enjoy most aspects of Dentistry whilst also having a special interest in Short Term Orthodontics.

Later in my career I found the love for teaching and supervision of young dentists, I was an Educational Supervisor for Foundation Dentists for 7 years and I am now a Clinical Teacher at the Restorative Department at Charles Clifford Dental Hospital. It is lovely to know I am helping raise a new generation of Dentists.

On a personal level I am married to Andy and have three children, Olivia (13), Charlotte (12), Thomas (10) and our beloved dogs. Winnie the Pug and Constance the Springer. Together with my husband we run Forest Dogs, a walking daycare and boarding service (keep a look out for the vans across the city).

I do love football and support Sheffield United (my husband’s influence for sure) and have a soft spot for Liverpool FC (you can see why me and Ricky get on)

Kirsty Wooley

Hygiene / Therapist

Kirsty trained at the university of Sheffield and graduated in 2014 as a hygiene therapist.​

Trained in performing many treatments including: scaling and cleaning teeth, periodontal (gum disease) treatment, white fillings, along with many children’s treatments.

Kirsty has also completed further training in:
Whitening, chemical peels and micro needling.

​In her spare time Kirsty is a qualified football coach and runs a local under 18s ladies team.

Isabelle Allen

Assistant Practice Manager / Dental Nurse

Bella qualified as a dental nurse in 2023 and gained her Application of Fluoride Varnish qualification in 2026. 

 

Bella has gained valuable experience working across a range of settings including mixed Private & NHS and urgent care, allowing patient focused care.  

Outside of work, Bella enjoys getting lost in a good book and spending time exploring the natural beauty of the Peak District.
